Procedures for DG’s when transshipped or being imported through our Port

Transshipment

All DG cargoes for transshipment will be treated according to its classes.

  • All Class 1 (irrespective of what division – 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, etc) has to be the 1st cargo out before any operation starts.
  • If the vessel arrives at night and the operation has to also start at night, than the DG class 1 has to be offloaded in to a barge and taken to the harbour with a security provided (under the agents cost) and the vessel operation will start.
  • If the vessel arrives at daylight (sunrise to sunset) than the DG has to be taken to a license magazine.
  • The DG will be the last cargo to be loaded before the vessel departs.
  • For other classes it can be stored on a destined area at the port under security and the area to be condoned off if the DG container is with the Suva cargoes.
  • For other classes the DG can also be stored in an unworkable hatch meaning the container is away from where our personnel will be working.

Imported GD

All DG cargoes will be treated according to its classes.

  • All Class 1 (irrespective of what division – 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, etc) has to be the 1st cargo out before any operation starts.

  • If the vessel arrives at night and the operation has to also start at night, than the DG class 1 has to be offloaded in to a barge and taken to the harbour with a security provided (under the agents cost) and the vessel operation will start.

  • This DG will be cleared in the morning when the escort is ready and only the barge will be allowed to come alongside the wharf apron.

  • If the vessel arrives at daylight (sunrise to sunset) than the DG has to be taken to a license magazine.

  • For other classes it can be stored on a destined area at the port under security and the area to be condoned off until it is cleared by the agent.
